The cheapest relationship you will ever have with a heating system

Heating systems fail on the coldest night of the year, and they fail in company. When a January cold snap hits, every plumber in Rhode Island is answering the same call at the same time, and the queue is the queue. The maintenance plan exists to take you out of it: the system gets a full service before the season, so the parts most likely to quit have already been looked at, and if something does go wrong, plan members are scheduled ahead of everyone else during peak heating season.

What the plan includes

One appliance, one full annual visit, done properly:

  • One full annual service and system cleaning: The visit that resets the system for the season, done before the weather forces the issue.
  • Complete cleaning of the burner, electrode and combustion chamber: Where soot and scale quietly cost efficiency all winter.
  • Interior vent pipe check: Chimney walls are not included; the vent connector and its joints are.
  • Full inspection of safety and operating controls: The parts that are supposed to shut the system down before something goes wrong.
  • Barometric damper and flue pipe checks: Draft problems show up here first, long before they show up as a smell.
  • Efficiency tuning and full performance testing: Combustion set to spec and proven with instruments, not by eye.
  • Filter and nozzle replacement on oil systems: The two consumables that decide whether an oil burner runs clean or coats itself.
  • Visual safety check of oil tanks, gas lines and heat exchangers: A trained look at the three places a heating system can fail dangerously rather than just inconveniently.

What it costs

  • Plans start at $30 a month on a twelve-payment annual agreement
  • 15% off labor and materials on any repair the system needs during the year
  • Priority scheduling during peak heating season, ahead of non-members
  • A $99 pre-enrollment inspection is required for every new plan, so we know the system we are agreeing to look after

What it does not include, said plainly

The plan does not include replacement parts. If the annual service turns up a part that is faulty or at the end of its life, you get a separate estimate for it, and the repair is billed outside the plan with the 15% member discount applied to labor and materials. The plan buys you the service, the priority and the discount. It is not an insurance policy, and we would rather you knew that before signing than after.

The terms, in plain language

  • One appliance per plan. Additional appliances can be added at a discounted rate.
  • Residential customers only. Commercial buildings are covered under separate maintenance agreements.
  • A commitment for the year. Once the plan is activated and the service performed, the full plan cost is owed under the twelve-payment agreement. Early cancellation does not void the balance.
  • Automatic renewal. Plans renew annually unless written notice of cancellation reaches us at least 30 days before the renewal date.
  • Systems over ten years old at enrollment do not qualify for the standard plan. Ask about coverage options for older equipment.

How to enroll

Call, or request service online, and ask for the maintenance plan. We schedule the $99 pre-enrollment inspection, confirm the system qualifies, and set up the agreement. If the inspection finds the system needs work first, you will hear that before anything is signed. The annual boiler service itself is the same thorough visit whether you are on the plan or not; the plan is how you stop having to remember to book it.

Plan questions

Asked before every enrollment.

What does the SOS maintenance plan cost?

Plans start at $30 a month on a twelve-payment annual agreement, and every new plan requires a $99 pre-enrollment inspection to qualify. Membership brings 15% off labor and materials on any repair the system needs during the year.

What is included in the plan?

One full annual service and cleaning of the heating system: burner, electrode and combustion chamber cleaned, interior vent pipe and flue checked, barometric damper checked, safety and operating controls inspected, efficiency tuned and tested with instruments, and on oil systems the filter and nozzle replaced. Plus priority scheduling during peak heating season and 15% off repairs.

What is not included?

Replacement parts. If the annual service finds a part that is faulty or due for replacement, you get a separate estimate for it, and the labor and materials for that repair are billed at 15% off the standard rate. The plan buys the service and the discount, not the parts.

Does the plan cover my water heater as well?

Each plan covers one appliance, and the plan is built around the heating system. If you would like a second appliance covered, it can be added at a discounted rate. Ask when you enroll.

My boiler is twelve years old. Can I still enroll?

Systems more than ten years old at enrollment do not qualify for the standard plan. We would still rather see it than not, so ask about coverage options for older equipment when you call.

How does renewal and cancellation work?

Once the plan is activated and the service has been performed, the twelve-payment agreement is a commitment for the year, so cancelling early does not void the balance. Plans renew automatically each year unless we receive written notice at least 30 days before the renewal date.

Is the plan available for businesses?

No, it is for residential customers only. Commercial buildings are covered under our commercial maintenance agreements, which are scoped to the building.

Warm all winter, on purpose. Send the signal.
