SOS plumbers laying protective floor covering inside a Rhode Island home before starting work

The plumber Rhode Island homeowners keep on the fridge.

Most plumbing problems announce themselves at the worst possible moment, a supply line lets go on a Sunday, a water heater quits during the first cold snap. SOS Plumbing & Heating exists for exactly those moments. Our residential plumbers cover the entire state from our West Warwick shop, with same-day service on most calls and a live person on the phone 24/7.

Leak detection & repair

Water stains on a ceiling, a spinning meter, the smell of damp behind a wall. We trace leaks to the source and fix the cause, not just the symptom. That includes pinhole leaks in aging copper, failed compression fittings, slab leaks and the galvanized-pipe corrosion common in Rhode Island homes built before the 1960s.

Fixture installation done right

Faucets, toilets, garbage disposals, shower valves, supplied by us or by you. Every install is pressure-tested and cleaned up before we leave, and workmanship is guaranteed in writing.

Water heaters, sump pumps & everything between

  • Water heater repair & replacement: tank and tankless, sized to your household's real demand
  • Repipes & pipe upgrades: retiring galvanized and polybutylene lines before they fail
  • Sump pumps & battery backups: basement protection for wet New England springs
  • Garbage disposals, ice-maker lines, hose bibs: the small jobs other shops won't schedule

Whatever the job, the process is the same: diagnose, quote a flat price, get your approval, fix it right. That's why Rhode Islanders rate SOS 4.8 stars across 300+ Google reviews.

How a rescue works

From your call to fixed, in four moves.

Signal 01, dispatch

You call. A person answers.

No phone tree, no callback queue. Describe the problem and we dispatch the nearest tech, same-day for most calls, immediately for emergencies.

Signal 02, diagnose

Upfront price before we open a wall.

The tech diagnoses on site, walks you through options, and quotes flat pricing before any work begins. You approve, or you don't. No surprises on the invoice.

Signal 03, fix

Fixed right, left clean.

Stocked vans mean most repairs finish in one visit. We protect floors, wear boot covers, and leave the space cleaner than we found it.

Signal 04, guarantee

Backed in writing.

Workmanship is guaranteed and every tech is licensed and insured in Rhode Island. If something isn't right, we come back. That's the whole policy.

What Rhode Islanders say after the fix.

★★★★★

"We called SOS for a leaky fixture, and they were quick to respond. Came right out and replaced gaskets instead of the whole fixture. Another plumber quoted over $1000 before they saw what we needed… we will call them again if we ever need anything."

★★★★★

"Excellent crew!! Jose and Matt came early in the timeframe the office provided and were professional and friendly the entire time, explaining everything along the way… this company is HONEST and upfront about pricing. The job was less entailed than originally thought, so my final cost was reduced dramatically."

Diana · Google review
★★★★★

"I had a saddle valve fail at 10pm and couldn't get the drip to stop at the leak. I got an instant and informative call back… Good advice, kind people, solid work and reasonable prices. This is a great company, highly recommended."

Good questions

Asked before every residential plumbing job.

How much does a plumber cost in Rhode Island?

We quote flat, upfront pricing after diagnosing the job on site. You approve the exact number before work begins. No hourly meter running, no surprise line items on the invoice.

Do you handle small jobs like a running toilet?

Yes. No job is too small, running toilets, dripping faucets and slow drains are half of what we do, and fixing them early prevents the expensive version later.

Can you replace my water heater the same day?

Usually, yes. Our vans stock common tank sizes and parts, so most standard water heater replacements happen the day you call. Tankless conversions are typically scheduled within a few days.

Do you repipe older homes?

Regularly. Pre-1960s Rhode Island homes often still carry galvanized supply lines that narrow and rust from the inside. We replace them with copper or PEX, usually in a day or two, with walls opened as little as possible.

Will you give a second opinion on another company's quote?

Gladly, and it costs you nothing to ask when we're already diagnosing. Camera footage, pressure readings and photos come standard, so you can compare like for like.

Is there a service call fee, and how much is it?

Yes, and you hear the number on the phone before anyone rolls. Dispatch during regular business hours starts at $235 and covers both the trip and the first half hour on site. Distance sets the rest: $260 across most of our range, $300 at the furthest edges of the state. After that first half hour, labor runs $200 an hour. Emergency calls are $495 for the first hour, then $300 an hour. No fine print, and no surprise line items on the invoice.

Whatever's leaking, clogged or cold, send the signal.
