A leak repair done properly starts from a known source. If you can see it, or a plumber has already pinpointed it, this is the page. If the only evidence is a bill that jumped or a stain with no obvious origin, start with leak detection, where we find it before anyone cuts. Either way the repair itself fixes what failed, not just where the water came out, because a patch over a pinhole in corroding copper is a patch you will be paying for again.
The failed section or fitting comes out and is replaced, not patched. On copper that means cutting back to sound pipe and sweating or pressing in new; on old galvanized it usually means replacing the section in copper or PEX; on a valve it means the valve, not a stem washer that buys a month. Access is opened only where the detection put the leak, the repair is pressure tested before the wall goes back, and the access is closed or left ready for your finisher, whichever you prefer. Where a leak repair reveals the pipe around it is failing too, you hear that in the room with a price for the honest fix, not on the next call.
Every leak repair ends with photos of the fix and, when insurance is involved, a written cause-of-loss report your adjuster can use. Flat price approved by you before we open anything.

Yes, a section can be cut out and replaced the same visit. Whether that is the right repair depends on the rest of the pipe. Pinholes come from water chemistry working from the inside, so we look at the surrounding copper and tell you honestly whether one repair or a section replacement is the better spend.
Usually. Most leak repairs are a known location, a cut, a replacement and a test, and the vans carry the fittings for copper, PEX and the common valve types. A repair that needs a part we do not stock is the exception, and you will hear that before we arrive.
