Two SOS technicians servicing a boiler in a Rhode Island basement

Most no-heat calls end with heat that same visit.

Boilers fail in patterns: igniters and flame sensors quit, circulator pumps seize after the summer off, zone valves stick, expansion tanks waterlog, condensate lines freeze in the first hard snap. Our techs carry all of it on the van, which is why the first visit is usually the only visit.

Symptoms we hear every week

  • "It's blowing cold" / no heat at all: ignition or sensor failure, lockout codes, gas supply issues
  • One zone cold, others fine: zone valve, circulator or trapped air
  • Banging, gurgling, kettling: air in the loop or scale on the heat exchanger
  • Pressure climbing or dropping: expansion tank, fill valve or a slow leak in the loop
  • Short-cycling: firing every few minutes, wearing itself out; often an oversizing or control issue we can tame

Every brand, honestly triaged

Viessmann and Navien factory training, and daily hands-on with Buderus, Weil-McLain, Burnham, Peerless and the rest of New England's basement population. If a repair doesn't make sense against the unit's age, we'll show you the math on a replacement, your call, no pressure.

How a rescue works

From your call to fixed, in four moves.

Signal 01, dispatch

You call. A person answers.

No phone tree, no callback queue. Describe the problem and we dispatch the nearest tech, same-day for most calls, immediately for emergencies.

Signal 02, diagnose

Upfront price before we open a wall.

The tech diagnoses on site, walks you through options, and quotes flat pricing before any work begins. You approve, or you don't. No surprises on the invoice.

Signal 03, fix

Fixed right, left clean.

Stocked vans mean most repairs finish in one visit. We protect floors, wear boot covers, and leave the space cleaner than we found it.

Signal 04, guarantee

Backed in writing.

Workmanship is guaranteed and every tech is licensed and insured in Rhode Island. If something isn't right, we come back. That's the whole policy.

Good questions

Asked before every boiler repair job.

My boiler is locked out with an error code. Should I keep resetting it?

Once, maybe. Repeatedly, no. Lockouts exist to stop unsafe firing, and resetting through them can mask a real fault. Note the code, leave it off, and call; the code tells our tech what to bring.

Why is one part of my house cold?

A stuck zone valve, tired circulator or air-bound loop, most often. All are same-visit repairs. Chronic cold in one zone every winter usually means the system needs balancing, not just parts.

Is a banging boiler dangerous?

Kettling, that rumble like a giant kettle, means scale is overheating water at the heat exchanger. It's a warning, not an explosion risk, but it's eating efficiency and the exchanger. Worth a call this week, not this season.

Do you repair oil boilers too?

Yes, burners, nozzles, controls and annual cleanings on oil-fired systems, plus honest advice on when an oil-to-gas conversion starts paying for itself.

Whatever's leaking, clogged or cold, send the signal.
