SOS technician installing a new sump pump and discharge line in a Rhode Island home

Sump pumps fail on the day they're needed. Plan for that.

A sump pump spends eleven months doing nothing and one night doing everything. The failure modes are predictable: a stuck float, a seized motor that hasn't run since spring, a check valve letting water hammer back down, or a power outage in exactly the storm that needed it. We install and service systems designed around those failure modes.

What a resilient setup looks like

  • Primary pump sized to the pit: cast-iron body, vertical float where the pit is tight
  • Battery backup pump: hours of protection when the grid goes down mid-storm
  • Quiet check valve: no more midnight thunk, no recycled water wearing the motor
  • High-water alarm: a $60 sensor that has saved a thousand finished basements
  • Proper discharge routing: away from the foundation, protected from freeze-back

Spring-ready service

A ten-minute annual test (lift the float, watch it cycle, check the valve) is the whole difference between a dry April and a wet one. We test as part of every maintenance-plan visit, and replace tired pumps before the forecast does it for you.

How a rescue works

From your call to fixed, in four moves.

Signal 01, dispatch

You call. A person answers.

No phone tree, no callback queue. Describe the problem and we dispatch the nearest tech, same-day for most calls, immediately for emergencies.

Signal 02, diagnose

Upfront price before we open a wall.

The tech diagnoses on site, walks you through options, and quotes flat pricing before any work begins. You approve, or you don't. No surprises on the invoice.

Signal 03, fix

Fixed right, left clean.

Stocked vans mean most repairs finish in one visit. We protect floors, wear boot covers, and leave the space cleaner than we found it.

Signal 04, guarantee

Backed in writing.

Workmanship is guaranteed and every tech is licensed and insured in Rhode Island. If something isn't right, we come back. That's the whole policy.

Good questions

Asked before every sump pumps job.

How long do sump pumps last?

About 7-10 years for a quality primary pump, less if it short-cycles constantly. If yours predates your kids' school photos, test it before the next storm, or let us.

Do I really need a battery backup?

If your basement is finished, or the pump runs regularly in spring: yes. The storms that flood basements are the same storms that drop power lines. A backup buys hours of pumping when it matters most.

Why does my sump pump run constantly?

High groundwater, a float set too low, or a check valve letting the same water fall back into the pit. Constant running cooks the motor, worth a look before it becomes a replacement.

Can you install a sump system where there's never been one?

Yes, pit excavation, perimeter drainage advice, pump, discharge and alarm. If your basement takes on water every spring, one wet season usually costs more than the system.

Whatever's leaking, clogged or cold, send the signal.
