Tiverton runs for miles along the east bank of the Sakonnet River, and it is really two towns. The north end around Stone Bridge, the Route 24 corridor and the streets climbing the hill from the river is older, denser housing with a working-town history and Fall River just over the line. South of Bliss Four Corners the town opens out along Route 77 into farmland, stone walls, the historic center at Tiverton Four Corners, and the shoreline neighborhoods of Fogland, Nanaquaket and Puncatest Neck. The north end: municipal water, older pipes

The Stone Bridge neighborhoods and the streets near Route 24 are on municipal water and sewer, and the houses are old enough that the original galvanized supply and cast iron drains are reaching the end of their lives. Down Route 77 the houses make their own water.
